Tuesday, October 19, 2021
Location: Zoom Virtual Meeting
Details on how to join will be emailed on Tuesday morning to those registered
Virtual Presentation begins at 12:00 PM
Kendra Miller & Dave Mennenga | Senior Professional Traffic Operations Engineers with GBA
will be presenting on:
Missouri's Innovative Roundabout with Railroad Preemption
To improve the safety of an at-grade railroad crossing and the traffic operations at an adjacent rural highway intersection, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is constructing an innovative multi-lane roundabout design at the intersection of Missouri Route 171 with Route 96 / Route YY. This roundabout will be located along the Route 171 corridor, about halfway between the cities of Carl Junction and Asbury.
As roundabouts become more prevalent across the U.S., some will inevitably be located in close proximity to at-grade railroad crossings. This project serves as an example of the design considerations and special traffic handling controls that were added to maintain normal roundabout operations for most of the movements within the intersection, while also providing adequate vehicle storage for the affected critical movements to eliminate any “gridlock” concerns.
Virtual Monthly Meeting Payment
