Introduction of Ports and Overview of America's Central Port
Introduction of Ports and how they serve as the nation's freight transportation hubs and the role inland river ports such as St. Louis play in the "first/last mile" of freight movement. Overview of the role America's Central Port, one of the six public ports within the Metropolitan Port of St. Louis, plays in economic development and transportation infrastructure investment within the region. America's Central Port is one of the 19 public ports within the State of Illinois. Its jurisdiction consists of approximately 215 square miles that runs the Mississippi River from the southern border of Madison County north to the Illinois River in Grafton, IL.
