I-44 Over Meramec River & I-270 Interchange Improvements
I-44 west of I-270 is a vital commuter route and a heavily traveled freight corridor that had significant congestion, safety issues, narrow shoulders, and deteriorating bridges over the Meramec River. This project replaced the river bridges and also targeted performance improvements at the I-44/I-270 interchange. Overcoming numerous challenges, the end results removed a major traffic bottleneck, created a safe bicycle and pedestrian crossing of the Meramec River, and a safer roadway for the traveling public.
